Final Paper
The final paper for the course (for students taking the course for credit) is to design a health app for a particular health topic or organization. Following the template for the final paper are some app suggestions and final papers from last year.
Template:
- Executive summary
- Background
- Mobile health use
- Evidence-based guidelines for health topic
- Needs assessment
- Populations app targets
- Four personas representing your target audiences and scenarios for each that include how they would find and use your app
- Competitive analysis
- A survey of the available apps for this health topic noting any that are particularly well-reviewed or highly rated, their range of functionality, and noting if they comply with evidence-based guidelines
- The results of a competitive analysis of four or more apps, and an explanation of why you selected them to review
- Description of app design (and justification for your design decisions). Explain how the app:
- Complies with evidence-based guidelines (if it doesn’t, why not?)
- Would be used successfully by your personas and why
- Improves on existing apps based on your search and competitive analysis
- Uses the capabilities of smartphones
- Wireframes depicting a subset of the functionality
- Evaluation plan
- Development plan including cost and schedule estimates
- Marketing plan
- Limitations
- References
